Job Summary:

Olympia Community Solar is a 501 c(3) non-profit formed in 2018 with the mission to steward an equitable and accessible clean energy transition through community solar education, policy, and project development. Our organization has met many successes including several grant funded projects and the installation of the Hummingbird Community Solar Project! The key role of the Outreach Director is to manage social media accounts, uphold relationships with organizational partners and stakeholders, and provide graphics and design work that aligns with current projects and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Outreach materials development and efforts.
  • Host and coordinate OCS engagement at the Olympia Farmers Market 2-3 day a week.
  • Collaborate with non-profit organizations and businesses to develop partnerships and effective fundraising strategies.
  • Create materials (i.e. fact sheets and social media posts) for community outreach, education, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage and monitor the OCS Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
  • Craft, organize and give PowerPoint and Google Slide presentations to various audiences.
  • Coordinate and plan education, fundraising, and networking events.
  • Lead OCS fundraising efforts, including annual participation in the Give Local Campaign and grant writing.
  • Coordinate w/ contracted media professionals, graphic designers.
  • Collaborate with the OCS team and regional leaders for the advancement of climate adaptation and mitigation goals.
  • Work with OCS team to ensure progress throughout all phases of solar project development.
  • Maintain working relationship with OCS Board of Directors and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • An understanding of solar projects the Pacific Northwest
  • Have a college-level or Masters-level Degree in communications or environmental studies or similar field.
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience with community organizing
  • Demonstrate the ability to motivate and engage our professional stakeholders & community members
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal communication
  • Work well independently and with a team, including within key partners
  • Be highly organized and comfortable with a fast-paced environment  
  • Demonstrate experience with social media and digital organizing.
  • Provide your own computer and internet for remote working.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Grant writing experience
  • Management experience
  • Working with  G-Suite, Canva, Asana, Clockify, etc.
  • Rooted in the Thurston County community.
