The Racial Equity & Social Justice Anthology is a compilation of essays written by members of the higher education community that demonstrate how racial equity, social equity, diversity, and inclusion are integral components to sustainability, and are particularly relevant for those working within higher education. These essays discuss racial equity as a necessary condition for a sustainable campus. New essays are developed and released annually.

If you are interested in authoring an essay for the RESJ Anthology, submit this form for consideration by May 10, 2021. AASHE will review proposals and send notification of decisions within a few weeks. Upon approval, final essays must be written by July 10 and will be edited by AASHE staff before release in September.

Submission Guidelines:
In the form below, please include the essay title or topic, a short description, and information about each author, including a biography.
– The Primary author of the essay must be from an AASHE member institution
– Outlines must be submitted by the May 10, 2021 deadline
– The topic focuses on or is related to racial equity, social equity, diversity, and inclusion
– The topic references the connection between RESJ and sustainability
– The topic is relevant to higher education sustainability officers or higher education workers

Essay Style Guidelines:
– All essays should be 1,000 – 2,500 words in length
– Essays should include minimal formatting. Headings are okay. Include references if applicable (see format in existing essays).
