Position Location

This position will be located in Salem

What you will do

The primary purpose of this position is to provide desktop administration and support to agency staff.  This position will provide customer assistance and day to day operations around desktop and software support. This will typically be a 50/50 split of customer assistance and operations.  This position will report to the Information Services Section Manager.

Accomplished in part by, but is not limited to:

  • Responding to and resolving incidents submitted by customers.

  • Responding to or escalating system alerts generated by monitoring tools.

  • Resolving, or assigning requests submitted to the agency’s ticketing system.

  • Provides training to agency staff on the use of desktop computers and software

  • Configure and maintain agency workstations, laptops and other technological equipment managed by the IS department.  

  • Creates, updates and publishes documentation of commonly used troubleshooting tasks and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of information systems experience in:
    (agency will specify specific experience);

OR

  •  An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field. OR

  • Completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related field: And one (1) year of information systems experience in a Service Desk environment.

The most competitive candidate(s), application(s) will demonstrate the following requested skills and experience:

  • Expert knowledge of windows desktop operating systems and networking.

  • IT Operations center experience including responding to and resolving system alerts and working in a tiered support structure

  • Proven record of strong customer service skills

This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and will be subject to all terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Pay and benefits on all job postings may change without notice.

NOTE: The salary listed on this job posting is the range for current PERS participating members. If you are not yet a PERS participating member, the salary range is $4,213- $6,371.
