If so this job is for you, the Plant Protection and Conservation Program Area. is currently recruiting for two, Administrative Specialist 1 (Hemp Registration Specialist) position.
As the Administrative Specialist 1 (Hemp Registration Specialist), you will coordinate and assist in the review of industrial hemp registration applications for completeness and accuracy and contact registrants to obtain missing or incomplete information. In addition, you will be the Industrial Hemp Program’s first point of contact with external customers, to answer questions and explain industrial hemp related laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Our Administrative Specialist 1 (Hemp Registration Specialist) is a Limited Duration expected to end June 30, 2023. This is a Full-time position, located in Salem, Oregon, and is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
We, at Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA), ensure healthy natural resources, environment, and economy for Oregonians now and in the future through inspection and certification, regulation, and promotion of agriculture and food. As a member of the ODA team, you will be helping to protect Oregon’s agricultural industries and natural environment from harmful plant pests, diseases, and noxious weeds and enhance the value and marketability of exported nursery stock, Christmas trees, hemp, and other agricultural products.

Three years of clerical/secretarial experience that included:

Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Self-starter who can bring high levels of production with minimal supervision.

Proficient with computer software.
No substitution will be made for the two years at the full performance level.
