Position Description: This position will entail daily seasonal fieldwork with opportunity for small amounts of office data management and grant writing training. This position is responsible for invasive weed management in sensitive areas. Sites include work on the Owens River, White Mountains, and in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Management activities include ATV and on-foot surveillance, herbicide application, mechanical weed removal for small populations, Tamarisk Salt Cedar removal in remote sites managed by the Inyo National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management, and weed population data collection.

Essential duties include operation of power herbicide spray equipment, hand herbicide sprayers, other hand tools; driving four-wheel drive vehicles, ATV’s, and walking into remote areas to detect and spray noxious weeds with herbicide; exercising considerable judgment in inspection and control assignments; keeping accurate logs and records; performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment; and maintaining equipment and facilities in a clean, orderly condition.
