Patrol, protect, maintain, and enhance facilities and habitat on a remote 34,000-acre mountain/desert conservation area owned and managed by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.

Much of the duties involve protection and enhancement of wildlife habitat including: fence repair; patrol in a vehicle, UTV, or on foot; herbicide spraying; mowing; juniper removal; equipment maintenance; seeding; data collection; sign maintenance; and other duties as assigned. Must be comfortable working alone in an extremely remote desert wilderness, often without cellular service.

Wildlife galore! Rattlesnakes are encountered frequently. Cool geology too.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; A.S degree in natural resources preferred.
  • Must be physically able to withstand long periods of work in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees and be able to hike for miles in VERY steep terrain while performing strenuous duties including occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.  Work is mostly outside in all weather conditions.  Experience with tractors, ATV’s and chainsaws preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain an Oregon Pesticide Applicator’s license within one year.  A valid driver’s license with a clean driving history is required and you must pass a background and drug test.
