General Description
Wilderness Conservation Corps interns work on trail projects deep in the backcountry of Southwest Oregon and Northwest California. They complete 10-day work hitches require physical, personal, and professional endurance in the most remote and spectacular reaches of the Pacific Northwest. Interns gain powerful entry to career tracks in the outdoors and natural resources. They also learn life-long skills, gain recognized credentials, and build a portfolio of competitive work experience.
Successful applicants will be in pursuit of a physical, personal, and professional challenge, and eager for a powerful life and work experience. Interns gain access to a small program with acclaimed standards and national recognition.
Location
Rogue Valley, OR. Projects are within a one-day drive.
Compensation and Housing
- Interns receive a $3,000 educational stipend distributed in four installments of $750 throughout July and August.
- Corps members are eligible for up to addition $1,000 bonus upon graduating from the program
- Rustic group housing is provided to Corps members between hitches at our facility in Gold Hill, OR.
Required Dates and Duration
Remote enrichment and orientation: May 1 – June 18 (10 hours roughly)
Field Season: June 18 – August 26
- One 8-day field training: June
- Four 10-day field projects July – August
- Mid season breakout (required): Explore the Pacific Northwest with us and network with land managers
