Job Objective: In support of the company mission, the goal of the Program Manager (PM) is to achieve safe, legal, and profitable field operations within their branch. The Program Manager is responsible for basic business administrative duties related to the branch. Finally, they act as the program advocate by setting improvement goals and developing expansion opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Attend regular meetings with supervisor to stay on the same page and monitor goals;
  • With an eye on the department’s established Minimum Operating Standards, create smooth functioning front and back end systems for field staff;
  • Hire and train support staff as needed and approved;
  • Develop and update job descriptions for support staff as needed;
  • Responsible for conducting new-hire trainings for field staff;
  • Direct oversight all staff currently working at the branch;
  • Address disciplinary and performance concerns in a timely manner;
  • Complete annual staff evaluations;
  • Support human resource needs as directed, including attending mandatory HR trainings;
  • Ensure adequate field support;
  • Conduct field support as needed;
  • Track important items issued to field staff in our internal operating system, Salesforce
  • Ensure that all trip leaders receive a pre-trip briefing and pertinent materials (face-to-face optional);
  • Be available for non-electronic debriefs as needed;
  • Read all guide debriefs, respond as prudent, and alert appropriate departments as warranted;
  • Schedule vehicles and shuttle drivers to meet transportation needs;
  • Arrange for vehicle maintenance and repairs as needed;
  • Ensure local Department of Transportation (DOT) and other agency transportation requirements are met;
  • Vehicle transfer duties as needed;
  • State, county, city and building legal compliance as needed;
  • Inventory tracking duties for purchases and transfers as needed;
  • Communication device management as needed;
  • Annual and day-to-day permit reporting duties as directed;
  • Ensure all field staff are educated to, and have resources for, permit compliance;
  • Respond to sales inquiries in a timely manner to support customer service needs;
  • Ensure trip information is accurate and useful via website and Salesforce for the sales team;
  • Coordinate with the Sales System Administrator on set schedule management;
  • Keep track of assigned budgets and adapt operations accordingly to stay within limits;
  • Oversee payroll and accounting needs of branch;
  • Complete an annual debrief at direction of the Operations Director;

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Marketing and program development;
  • Work with the Operations, Staffing and Hiring Directors as requested to determine program needs;
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships in the area;
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by Operations Director;

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the field area: Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier National Park and North Cascades National Park
  • Strong supervisory, facilitation, organization, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency with Google Drive apps, Microsoft Office and previous experience with a CRM
  • system;
  • Light office duties required to lift up to 20 pounds and work at a computer station up to 40 hours per week;
  • Physical capability to meet company and Department of Transportation (DOT) driving requirements:
  • Maintain current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and CPR Certifications;
  • Must pass a background check;

Working Conditions: This job is based in Olympia, WA and is full-time April – October. Part-time work November – March as needed. A willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and work weekends and/or holidays is necessary.

Pay Type:

  • Hourly – Non-Exempt – Full-Time*
  • Year-Round
  • Full-Time* Qualifying Season

Compensation/Benefits: For benefit qualifications and plan details, a Compensation Plan, HR Handbook, and individual policies will be made available from manager/director and HR Administrator.

  • Base Pay Rate: $20/hr
  • Overtime at 1.5 times regular pay as approved by supervisor
