This is an opportunity to be an integral part of the Washington Interactive Licensing Database (WILD) System support team that is entrusted to manage, maintain, test and work with our vendor to develop the WILD System.
In this dynamic role, you will serve as a Quality Assurance (QA) Tester – skilled in the diagnosis, troubleshooting and maintenance of the WILD system.

- Duties
-
Our IT Quality Assurance Tester, performs the below duties in support of the WILD (Washington Interactive Licensing Database) System:
- Quality Assurance – tests software on multiple programs and devices for the system in both the WDFW User Acceptance Testing and Production environments.
- Data Analysis, Data Management and SQL Report Development – develops basic SQL/SSRS reports.
- Technical Support – Provides Tier 1 technical support, including testing and troubleshooting hardware defects, programming, and installing printers and software.
- Business Analysis of WILD – identifies, analyzes, and investigates processes related to the Department’s business operations as they relate to current and future recreational and commercial IT licensing systems.
- System Administration – performs back-end operations and maintenance functions of the WILD System Database.
- Defects Management – troubleshoots advanced system problems or challenges and documents problems.
- Software and Data Management – assists Project Manager and Analyst staff with determining Business Requirements for Change Requests or System Enhancements.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work Setting, including hazards:
- Duties are performed in an office setting.
- Extensive computer use and sitting.
- Teleworking options may currently be available.
- Schedule:
- Monday – Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules.
- Travel Requirements:
- Seldom in-state & out-of-state travel may be required.
- Tools and Equipment:
- Laptops, desktops, Apple products, Microsoft products, multiple monitors, Interactive Voice Recording (IVR), portable projectors, multi-line phones, fax/scanner printers, touch screen devices, smart boards, POS (point of sale) machines.
- Customer Relations:
- Customer service is integral to department success.
- Interactions may include the general public, vendors, Washington State employees, contractors, and Oregon & Idaho Fish & Wildlife Agencies.
- Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
AND
- ONE (1) year of experience providing customer service.
AND
- TWO (2) years of experience performing information technology related activities.
Competencies:
- Technical Analysis Skills: Identify key facts in an array of data, recognize when pertinent facts are incorrect or missing.
- Critical Thinking: In the absence of clear guidelines or information, use judgment and critical thinking to infer appropriate meaning and form conclusions necessary to resolving the problem or issue.
- Software Testing & Quality Assurance: Break down data into component parts to understand the nature and relationship of the parts.
- Writing Skills: Create clear concise, grammatically correct documents, emails, defect tickets & testing results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate’s Degree, or a higher-level degree in computer science or another related field.
- Certification in MS SQL Server, or direct work experience in SQL scripting and relational database design in a relational database environment.
- Direct work experience in software testing, web development, IT project planning and IT Business Analysis.
- One (1) year of experience in an IT Help Desk.
