This is a full-time position working directly with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) and Pheasants Forever that will implement and oversee the ODFW Hunt by Reservation program. This innovative program opens private land by working with landowners experiencing high wildlife use of their private lands and connecting them with qualified hunters through a reservation system. This program provides new access for hunters, gives landowner the opportunity to have input of wildlife management on their property, and establishes a connection between hunters and landowners that promotes hunter and land conservation ethics while promoting the image of hunters with landowners and landowners with hunters.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills listed below; OR

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years technical-level experience that typically supports the expected knowledge and skill requirements listed below.

Expected knowledge, skills and experience include:

• Project management and/or program administration with an emphasis on natural resources or outdoor recreation
• Strong coordination, facilitation, team building, and a collaborative approach
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of outdoor recreation, hunter ethics, and wildlife management.
• Substantial computer and technology-based understanding, including HTML coding, and map creation
• Planning, budget management, program evaluation, and report writing

Desirable knowledge, skills, and experience include:
• Working with federal, state, NGO and private industry partners
• Working with private landowners on programs that secure hunting access
• Grant writing and management and/or general fund raising

Duties and Expectations

• Recruit landowners to participate in ODFW’s Hunt By Reservation Program
• Conduct site visits on potential enrollee properties to evaluate safety zones, wildlife patterns, and hunter logistics
• Coordinate with ODFW field staff on potential enrollee properties
• Represent Pheasants Forever and ODFW in a professional, safe, and ethical manner
• Diversify the Hunt By Reservation Program by recruiting landowners providing a variety of pursuit game species, particularly big game, waterfowl, and upland game birds, including wild turkey
• Respond to marketing and information requests to publicize the Hunt By Reservation Program
• Develop an outreach strategy to increase awareness of the Hunt By Reservation Program by landowners and hunters
• Respond to queries by participating hunters
• Develop rules and recommendations for program participants in coordination with ODFW
• Develop maps and property-specific information to assist participating hunters with their reservation and hunt
• Manage and maintain Hunt by Reservation software, including HTML coding and ensuring timely payments to the vendor
• Coordinate activities, objectives, and priorities with ODFW (HQ and field staff)
• Seek, develop, and apply for additional funding sources to support the Hunt By Reservation program
• Provide two post-season reports (Spring and Fall) per year plus a final report (Summer) addressing the tasks described above. The reports should provide a description of program progress, accomplishments, and challenges affecting the ability to complete tasks
