The Office of Sustainability and Environment (OSE) develops and implements citywide environmental policies and programs that propel our city toward a sustainable, equitable, and carbon neutral future. OSE is currently recruiting for a temporary communications specialist to support the Fresh Bucks program in a four-month assignment. Fresh Bucks is a healthy food access program helping lower income Seattle residents to get more fruits and vegetables.
As the Fresh Bucks Communications Specialist your top 3 Priorities would be:
- Managing the launch of the Fresh Bucks rebrand, which reflect the programs shift to e-benefits and expansion of the Fresh Bucks retailer network
- Managing overall Fresh Bucks communications including press releases and social media
- Managing relationships with communications vendors and affiliated partners

To be effective in this role, you have:
- Led a brand re-launch or campaign reaching new and established audiences, including current hands-on experience developing and using a range of communication tools
- Track record of developing communications for priority populations including, but not limited to, BIPOC communities, immigrant and refugee communities, and low-income communities
- Strong listening, writing and oral communications skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with a diverse range of audiences
- Demonstrated experience in strategic communication planning, brand management and project management
- Experience with content management systems (WordPress, GovDelivery, Hootsuite) and social media platforms
- Qualifications

In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this job requires the following:
Experience: Three years of experience in planning and research related to land use, urban economic, human services, environmental issues, conservation, or other work directly related to City planning and development activities
AND
Education: A bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, marketing, communications, or a related field
OR
Equivalency: A combination of experience, training, and education that provides the demonstrated capability to successfully perform this job
