DNR Public Land Survey Office is hiring for a one year Land Surveyor development position.  If you have beginning level education or experience we like to see your application.  Our office operates under the authority of RCW 58.24.  You will work in an indoor setting with great mentors who will train you on understanding old survey records from private and public sector professionals.  While you are paid to learn, you will be leaving a lasting effect on the largest land survey records database in Washington State.

Responsibilities:

• You will input, search, and correct, databases through approved software.
• You will use scanners to convert historical hardcopy maps and documents to electronic images.
• You will assist in collecting survey record donations.
• You will work within a LEAN team office structure.
• You will be assigned a 4/10 M-TH weekly schedule.

Who are we looking for?

The right candidate has:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Experience working with computers.
• Retain instructions and information.
• Speak and Read English, (Documents and instructions are in English)
• Ability to follow direction.
• Ability to follow health and safety guidance.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function.  Employees who drive for state business, whether in a state or privately-owned vehicle, are required to possess a valid license as defined in policy PO02-006 and abide by all other driver responsibility requirements. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, telework (mobile-work) is expected for most office activities. When approved to return, the incumbent is expected to report to their assigned duty station for work activities or may be approved for telework based on DNR’s telework policy.
