ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

About EarthCorps

At EarthCorps, we believe that we’re part of something bigger. We believe that we have a collective responsibility to care for each other and nature, and that we need new ideas and boundless enthusiasm from across the globe to create a better world where people and nature thrive together.

That boundless enthusiasm shines through our Corps Program. Since 1993, more than 1,000 young adults from across the US and 80 countries from around the world have come to Seattle, Washington to participate in an environmental leadership development program. These emerging environmental leaders make up our Corps Program, where they learn technical environmental restoration and hands-on leadership skills, all while building a close-knit community through caring for our natural world.

EarthCorps truly embraces the “think globally, act locally” concept. The lands and waters of Puget Sound are our classroom and our legacy. Corps members learn leadership and cross-cultural skills by working collaboratively, leading thousands of community volunteers each year, and executing technical environmental restoration projects including salmon stream restoration, native tree plantings, invasive plant removal, wetland and shoreline restoration, and trail construction around the Puget Sound region.

After the yearlong program, these young leaders return to their local communities and cities with the tools, skills, and enthusiasm needed to tackle the pressing issues of our time – including climate change, pollution, and ecological degradation– to create a better world for all of us.

Position Summary

EarthCorps seeks a part-time (10 hours/week for 10 months) alumni engagement coordinator to develop and launch EarthCorps’ first ever alumni engagement program. This is a grant funded, pilot program, with a specific focus on international alumni, especially from Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are unable to host international corps members in 2021. This will be the first time in our organization’s 28-year history that we do not have international participants. This position will help to bridge that loss.

The objective of the new alumni engagement position is three-fold:

  • Build and expand programming to engage more alumni on a more regular basis.
  • Provide opportunities for cultural exchange between international alumni and current US Corps members.
  •  Connect with all alumni (US and international), build a system to keep track of alumni contact information, and establish an ongoing global network of environmental leaders who engage, connect, and learn from one another.

This position will be 10 hours a week over a 10-month period beginning in 2021. As an hourly grant-funded position, the focus of this role will be solely on alumni programming, and not other organizational related meetings/work groups. The position will report to the Development and Communications Director and will work intimately with our Corps Program team.

During the current phase of Covid this position is expected to work remotely. When it is safe to return to the office, this position is based in Seattle (with potential flexibility for the right candidate).

We encourage applicants from all racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and functional limitations to apply, especially those from historically marginalized communities.
