Position Summary
The TRIO Program Assistant is a Student Support Services (TRiO) project funded by the US Dept of Education. This is a full-time position in the Student Academic Assistance and STEM office, a part of the Student Services division at Seattle Central College (SCC). The Program Assistant provides technical and clerical assistance to the office and to the tutorial component of the program. As the front line person, the incumbent is expected to provide students, staff, program participants and the general public with accurate information regarding the activities related to the program and the interpretation and application of department policies. Participate in monthly staff meeting and prepare minutes. This position reports to the program support supervisor who guides the work of the position.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE. Essential Functions
- Perform technical duties in support of the office such as establishing and maintaining records and files;
- Provide technical support for services provided by the office such as tutoring, mentoring, and 1st Gen Professional Mentorship support;
- Compose correspondence through Canvas or other mediums via printed materials, and/or information related to program policies, procedures, and operations; edit materials for accuracy, appearance, readability, and style;
- Coordinate arrangements for program activities such as meetings, workshops, virtual tabling, orientations, student recognition events;
- Serve as a resource person for students and campus committees concerned with program operations and navigating SCC website and TRIO’s electronic resources;
- Acts as liaison with College departments to provide information on TRIO’s tutoring program and discuss student challenges;
- Assist in the completion of the Department of Education Annual Performance Report, and contribute to the timely submission thereof;
- Monitor, reply and forward, as needed emails received through program accounts;
- Enroll new participants in TRIO Canvas course, monitor and update course content;
- Help students navigate the SCC website and TRIO’s electronic resources;
- Schedules appointments and meetings for TRIO staff;
- Participate in staff meetings and prepare minutes;
Required Education, Experience, Abilities
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity and proficiency with various technologies, including but not limited to student database systems and student success technologies.
- Ability to utilize professional judgement in a publicly-funded program.
