Agronomist ‐ Crop Consultant

Agrimanagement, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an Agronomist wanting to grow their career. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our growing organization to help provide consulting services, independent of product sales, delivering objective recommendations to our clients and growers. The Agronomist will have the opportunity to work closely with our knowledgeable team and with a vast variety of crops grown in the Pacific Northwest. Our independent recommendations are designed to increase plant and soil health, water and nutrient conservation, and to optimize input use and crop yields for growers.

Key Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Scouting Fields: soil sampling, plant tissue sampling, and pest management scouting in a variety of crops
  • Installing and maintaining irrigation monitoring equipment
  • Managing, coordinating tasks, and working closely with a staff of summer employees
  • Teaching and providing training on proper sampling procedures and techniques
  • Make recommendations for fertilizer rates, irrigation scheduling, or pesticide applications to growers/clients based on data and observations collected by field scouts
  • Advise growers/clients in current best management practices pertinent to their specific operations
  • Assisting in the drafting and publication of official permit reporting documents on behalf of clients
  • Provide occasional technical, statistical, or analytical support on various agricultural research projects and trials
  • Assist in making grower contacts, and building lasting relationships
  • Continue learning and educating one’s self in order to maintain a high level of expertise and knowledge on the most advanced agricultural practices, products, and technologies.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, or similar Ag Science degree
  • Knowledge of production agriculture with 2+ years experience in agronomy or an agricultural related field
  • Is a self‐starter and has the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
  • Is personable and can work closely with clients, and team members
  • Is a team player and is willing to help other staff with tasks when needed and when time allows
  • Strong ethics: Must be willing to subscribe to the code of ethics of the NAICC (https://naicc.org/about‐us/code‐of‐ethics/)
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
  • Physical capability to lift and carry 30+ pounds, and work long hours in a variety of field conditions: heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
  • Possesses effective critical thinking and problem‐solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills including the use of MS Office tools
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Washington State Pesticide Consultant license within 90 days of hiring

Other Preferred Qualifications:
Other beneficial knowledge and skills that are helpful for the position but are not required:

  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), or Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg) Certification
  • Knowledge of various crops grown in the Pacific Northwest
  • Dairy nutrient management experience
  • GPS/GIS experience
  • Training and sales experience
  • Bilingual: English‐Spanish
