The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest is currently seeking candidate for one temporary GS-6 Forestry Technician Timber Sale Prep position. Located on the Wenatchee River Ranger District, Leavenworth, Washington.
The Wenatchee Ranger District, of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest will be advertising for one temporary seasonal Forestry Technician (Timber Sale Prep) position with a duty station of Leavenworth, Washington.

About the Position: This position is established on the Wenatchee River Ranger District. Technical duties will be performed in timber sale prep. The work is performed in a forest environment where terrain may be uneven, rocky, and covered with thick vegetation. Climatic conditions range from extremely hot and dry to extremely cold and wet. Rain, snow, wind, or dust may be encountered. The work involves regular and recurring risks or discomforts that require safety precautions or the use of safety equipment such as boots, gloves, and hardhats.
Major Duties and are not limited to:
- Independently applies silvicultural prescriptions and marking guides to designate harvest timber.
- Acts as a certified timber cruiser. Independently applies the instructions issued in a cruise plan. Takes and records tree measurements, assesses quality, and determines defect.
- Prepares and computer processes cruise data.
- Observes and reports areas of possible archeological significance, and sightings of sensitive, threatened or endangered wildlife species.
- Traverses harvest unit boundaries, road locations, and determines area.
- Participates in other aspects of resource management support work as assigned and qualified
