A Streaked Horned Lark Specialist position is available with Colorado State University and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands, and will be located at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), Washington. This position will provide technical and field support for the monitoring and management of the Federally Threatened Streaked Horned Lark. Field support includes surveying, habitat monitoring, compiling data, mapping nest locations, and providing support for project review. Other activities include assisting with dig permits, co-use agreements, reviewing environmental documents, implementing prescribed burns, conducting ESA briefings, managing crews, and assisting with other rare and endangered species. This position will also provide support for habitat restoration and improvement that will include survey and treatment for invasive/noxious weeds, planting and planting maintenance, and prescribed burn monitoring.
JBLM is located 9.1 miles south-southwest of Tacoma and about 40 miles south of Seattle, Washington. The facility is under the U.S. Army Joint Base Garrison, and includes the U.S. Army’s Fort Lewis and the U.S. Air Force’s McChord Air Force Base.
