Program Development Intern
The Undergraduate Research Program (URP) in the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity (EXPD) promotes and facilitates
opportunities for undergraduates to participate in research with faculty, provides a public forum for students to present their
work, and offers advising and other resources. We currently seek an intern to support URP projects for up to 12 hours per week,
preferably starting at the beginning of fall quarter 2020 and continuing through winter and spring 2021.
ABOUT THE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM
As part of the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity (EXPD), the Undergraduate Research Program (URP) facilitates research experiences for undergraduates with faculty members across the disciplines. URP staff comprise a small, dynamic team who assist students in planning for an undergraduate research experience, identifying faculty mentors and projects, defining research goals, presenting and publishing research findings, obtaining academic credit, and seeking funding for their research.
URP maintains a listing of current UW undergraduate research opportunities and related national programs, and offers the Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities and co-hosts other summer STEM research programs. The Annual UW Undergraduate Research Symposium provides a forum for students to present their work to the university community and the

WORK HOURS, LOCATION, AND PAY RATE
Work schedule to be determined quarterly. Pay rate is $16.39 per hour, for up to 14 hours per week for 11 weeks (work study eligible). Work location is currently remote until further notice. The office is located in 171 Mary Gates Hall, the Center for Experiential Learning and Diversity (EXPD). Occasional early evening hours desired.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Development Intern serves as a member of the Undergraduate Research Program team. The internship will focus primarily on key development projects with opportunities to collaborate with staff on other activities depending on experience and interests. Primary and potential projects include:
- Undergraduate Researchers Support Network Collaborate with URP staff and partners to coordinate student support events, including Research Community Connections.
- Curriculum and Advising Development Support staff in revising and identifying new opportunities for curriculum building for students.
- Undocumented Student- Friendly Website Using best practices and knowledge of policies and funding options, review website content and make recommendations for incorporating content that helps undocumented students navigate quickly towards resources that are relevant towards supporting their undergraduate research experience.
- Additional Program and Student Support
Depending on interests, experience, and availability, other opportunities that can be incorporated into the internship include: support URP planning of events and activities that support undergraduate research engagement.

- Meet regularly with Assistant Director to report progress
- Collaborate with URP staff and committees
- Support planning meetings for designated projects
- Effective research of best practices, policies, and strategies to strengthen projects
- Effective time management and communication of projects and outcomes
- Friendly, reliable and committed to student success
QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest in experiential learning/research for undergraduate students
- Work well both as a member of a small team and independently.
- Leadership abilities including assertiveness, effective oral and written communication skills, and listening skills
- Creative problem solving skills, ability to balance a variety of duties, and attention to detail.
- Experience with computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High comfort level with computer technology and software programs, including online forms and surveys (webqs).
ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS
- Professional or personal experience with undergraduate research
- Qualitative research experience (e.g. focus groups, survey analysis)
- Graduate student research experience

SUPERVISION
