Through the Center for Community Based Learning and Action’s Community Service Work Study program, 15 students are employed mostly remotely at local non-profit, grassroots organizations in the Olympia and Shelton communities during the academic year. The Community Service Work Study Program is a collaboration between Evergreen’s Student Employment office and the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA). This program connects Evergreen students to the CCBLA’s community partners and provides them with community-based learning experiences that truly reclaim the “study” in work-study job positions. By gaining real-world experiences in fields that students hope to enter post-college, they’re also offsetting the burden of student loan debt by getting paid to do meaningful work.

The CCBLA’s Community Service Work Study Program Coordinator position is remote for 2020 provides support to the 20 work-study program participants through outreach, interviews, placements, check-ins, trainings and by hosting gatherings for the work-study students. The position also supports CCBLA Director with coordination of participating community partners.

Priority for WORK STUDY AWARD and be a WA State Resident, may be able to place qualified institutional student.
Skills and Experiences needed:
-Strong background in community based work (volunteer, intern or work experience and studies in non-profits, grass roots organizations, community issues)
-Interest and some exposure to volunteer coordination
-Commitment to Campus-community connections and community based learning
-Interest and some exposure to facilitating groups and training.
-Academic studies in non-profit organization and community organizing a plus
-This position is open to higher level students (not first/second year)
