CBLA is a community non-profit whose mission is to restore Black Lake to ecological health.
Our core group consists of biologists, ecologists, and environmental educators who have worked for local, state, and federal agencies and global non-profits on ecological restoration here and abroad. We seek to find alternative, low-cost, non-toxic solutions to lake eutrophication and invasive aquatic weeds that can be replicated worldwide. With your help, we would like to pursue several avenues of research on Black Lake and its tributaries that investigate the Lake’s limnology, non-vertebrate animals, fish populations, phytoplankton, and water quality. We are also interested in launching model pilot projects using biochar, constructed wetlands, and the use of plantings to intercept nutrients flowing into the lake.
We welcome your enthusiasm and participation to address the global problems facing freshwater lakes.
