INITIATIVES

Clean Energy Fee:

The Clean Energy fee funds renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, educational events, and research projects on campus. Recently funded projects include: solar panel installation on the Covered Recreation Pavilion, student discount at the Organic Farmstand, hydroponics gardens, and Harvest Festival. To ensure the Clean Energy Committee (CEC) can continue funding these projects, this initiative would increase the Clean Energy fee from $1.00 per credit-hour to $2.00 per credit-hour.

If you have questions about this initiative, contact the Clean Energy Committee at cleanenergy@evergreen.edu.

WashPIRG Fee:

Washington Student Public Interest Research Group (WashPIRG) is a student-directed organization that works on several social issues in the state of Washington. Recently, Evergreen’s WashPIRG Chapter has aided the Thurston County Food Bank and the Basic Needs Center, supported over 200 students in registering to vote, lobbied state legislators to implement statewide comprehensive recycling systems and to fund programs that will increase salmon and orca populations. WashPIRG chapters pool resources statewide to hire professional staff that train students to become leaders in effective campaigns. Any student choosing not to support WASHPIRG may waive their fee. This initiative would continue the $8.00 per quarter fee.

If you have questions about this initiative, contact WashPIRG Evergreen at mark.antony_johnson@evergreen.edu.

Recreation Fee (Olympia Campus Only):

The Costantino Recreation Center (CRC) provides Evergreen students with recreation and athletic programs including: a pool, gymnasium, exercise facilities, intercollegiate athletics, club and intramural sports, The Outdoor Program, and more. This initiative would create a Recreation fee to support the expansion of operational hours, facility infrastructure and equipment upgrades, increased student employment opportunities, and increased recreational offerings and activities to support the mental and physical health of Evergreen students. This initiative would enact a $4 per credit-hour fee.
