Welcome to the WordPress page for the Center for Climate Action and Sustainability. This site is a space for news, essays, resources, and other information that fits with the broader work of the Center. For upcoming lectures, events, workshops, job opportunities, and more, please visit the official Evergreen.edu/climate website!
Our News section provides updates on recent events that CCAS has hosted, organized, or staff has attended. You will also find commentary on recent climate and sustainability issues from students and faculty, as well as research notes, in this section.
This site also features our developing Project Database. A resource for seeing what projects are being actively worked on by the CCAS, and/or other entities in the region. It also includes a growing archive of past student and faculty work (both actualized and incomplete concepts) for reference. As well as theoretical ideas that need engaged minds!
Archived videos of the Climate Lecture Series are available on the CCAS Archived Videos Page. You will also find a Resources section where we have gathered a number of resources on important climate topics, especially related to recent lecture series speakers. Beyond these pages, we are organizing a student-run journal on climate, environment, and related topics – please reach out if you are interested!
Mission
The Center’s mission is to support and advance justice-oriented and science-based climate action in the Pacific Northwest by leveraging the power of the Evergreen community.
Our work focuses on three pillars: transformative education, public engagement, and action research.
Our vision is to become:
- a central hub for climate change and sustainability curriculum at Evergreen and the broader PNW
- a public laboratory for science and action, connecting community groups, government, and non-profit organizations to Evergreen students and faculty
- and a public forum for climate-related lectures and workshops.
