Abstract:  This project, started in the Spring of 2021, will highlight the culture and nuances of community oriented, regenerative agriculture. The students involved in this project will have the opportunity to learn about responsible bio-diverse farming & gardening through the tending and management of a 900-sqft plot within the Evergreen Community Garden. In this time, students will be tending to crops while being fully immersed in a community oriented growing space that is rich with networking, conversations, and laughter.

In an attempt to close the gap between the time, effort, and culture involved in the act of growing food, and the act of eating food, the vegetables produced within this plot will be given to Evergreen students to cook and learn from. Starting in the Fall, students across multiple programs will have the opportunity to pick up a box of produce from the campus that will be featured in remotely recorded culinary workshops hosted by Dr. Sarah Williams.

We aspire to reconnect the culture of eating to the culture of growing food, moving towards a world that cherishes and lifts up responsible agriculture.
