There are officers on duty at all times of day across the entire week. Sometimes the on duty officers may leave the campus in order to help the Thurston county police with something such as a car chase or anything else the county may need help with.

Either once or twice a year, evergreen police officers must go through recertification to be allowed to handle firearms. Evergreen Police also receive all the same training as any ordinary police officer, including training for crisis situations, and are ready to handle an active shooter situation. When it comes to things such as noise complaints the evergreen police are the last resort option compared to other response measures on the evergreen campus.

Before the disaster happened, the Evergreen Police that were on duty were called in to help the Thurston county police, taking them off campus and totally cut off from what would happen in Evergreen. With no active duty police officers once disaster strikes there is no one on campus who can immediately take control of the chaos, leading to more confusion and a lack of clear leadership to form around. This lack of presence will be perfect for making a new society as opposed to everyone getting in line because the police have weapons and are figures of authority.

Once things settle down and people figure out there are no police, we may see some people try to step in and take law enforcement into their own hands. While early on they may be laughed at, if they were instrumental in helping people during and after the disaster some people may in fact be willing to follow them. They may even be people attempting to break into police services thinking they may find a weapon there that they could use in some way, which could make for good antagonists. When police services are opened up, we can have quick radio communication on campus using any leftover equipment if any that are in police services.

Once we can move between olympia and evergreen, the police officers that were part of the evergreen police would have likely been absorbed by the thurston county police, or be part of a survivor group in olympia, and have no reason to come back to evergreen.

There are roughly two officers on duty at any given time during the day, equipped with a taser, a rifle, and a sidearm, as they navigate the 1,000 acre campus.
