It has been inevitable that the students have had to brave these woods, despite the creatures, the hostility from the forest itself, the rapid growth of foliage and everything that could threaten to consume them.
When the forest began to reject, growing hostile and dangerous, these woods were no longer everyone’s to tromp around in. Many students didn’t want to think of nature as their enemy and many outright refused to think so. They believed there had to be more to this change.

It had been those most in touch with nature, those who tended to plants in their pots or beds, who felt less resistance. That was the first sign that there truly was something more to this change in relationship– it was as if being tested. It was as if nature needed to know that the students meant well and that they would properly respect that they were being allowed in.

It was through word of mouth, rumors spreading about some students having less difficulty in the forest. It was as if the forest opened up willingly to them, and some students swore it really did. These rumors spread and spread until students began to come together, discussing their hypothesis, their denial, or their fervent belief that nature was, as if, alive. It responded to some students, some even took to calling it “magic” and speaking of it as such.

The plants could grant power, they believed this with their whole heart. It was when it happened, someone was able to truly perform “magic” or something of the like. They had been able to show others, with one of their own plants, that a strange effect happened as they held their hand over the plant and it seemed to truly move about. It responded to this, and just like that, the plant seemed as if it had grown.
That was when these rumors became more than just that– The students were in uproar, and discussion began about how to explore this further. Was it only plants that were being tended to? How did they gain the trust of the other plants then? How did any of it work? Many questions need answering but there is one thing clear: it is linked to nature.

The students have never been able to divorce themselves from nature.
