A crab or a genome of crab has evolved with the introduction of new minerals and new life forms there has been an evolution. Crabs can now sense and Conduct electricity without harming themselves much like an Eel would. The issue with this is unlike Eels they require some font of electrical signals or more hunger for it. So these Land crabs (Gecarcinidae) have begun to leave the beach in swarms.
These swarms are low to the ground and leave tracks in some of the lower levels and some of the more muddy terrain as well as shedded or dead crabs and their shells lost in some bushes between the beach and the campus. Any attempt to harm them is largely fruitless as the shell that allows them to sense magnetic signals has also hardened with the assistance of minerals and metals.

The crabs will be able to be found looking for any electrical signals and draining them. The closer they get to campus the more hungry they are after a long travel. They cannot communicate and can most likely fit in the palm of your hand. Their aggression levels are still very low. Most likely that of a normal crab.

Additionally, as food becomes more and more scarce for predators (Their Prey have become incredibly capable) they begin to look to campus. This likely means an influx of Raccoons but more importantly more Black Bear sightings. Black Bears are not inherently aggressive creatures. If you corner it though that is kinda your fault. Black bear’s tongues have evolved to be even longer and more articulate their snout elongating to compensate. They can fold their tongue and use it much like an anteater does to eat their food.

These sightings have likely caused panic in small chunks of students and the crabs will assuredly be a problem once they get closer to campus. And start messing up electrical signals for compasses and attempting to siphon electricity from the power sources on campus. Some early sightings of these things shells will be visible within the coming weeks.

Off in the forest where the students have yet to reach there is the beginning of something.
