Light had slept until 3pm that day, an early wake-up time for the student. It was a beautiful day outside, but the sun made it miserable, so it had rushed to class last minute when 5:40pm hit. The benefits of living on campus were small but appreciated. class was fairly normal until Sam had gone to start the projector and found they forgot their laptop. Sam decided that the class could be mature for 10 minutes and ran off to their office to grab the laptop and called for a break. Light was grateful as it was sleepy due to the heat, and it had been sleeping at its desk when the surprised shouts of its classmates woke it up. The windows glowed from the brightness of the new red sky, and by the time it had registered the windows, the ground started to shake. Light had been through Washington earthquakes before, but had slept through each. This was new. when the ground stopped shaking, everyone went outside. the damage was insane. every window in sight was cracked or shattered, the earth looked as if someone had grabbed a completed puzzle and scrunched it. the concrete was jagged, and the stairs were more perilous than usual. thank god the banisters were still intact. A thick fog had rolled in and it seemed to emanate the red glow from the sky. it looked like someone had put a red filter over a camera lens. everyone started trying to call friends and family and roommates but to no avail. no calls could go out, even 911 was unable to be reached. A loud roar burst from the woods, and as it set in that no help was coming, people started to head to the HCC to make sure that friends and loved ones on campus were all right and to find shelter from whatever the fuck was in the woods. Light was silently freaking out, but so was everyone so it felt a little better. when Light got to the HCC, it immediately went to its roommates and stayed with them until people started dispersing to check on their apartments. Light and roommates went to their apartment and were unsurprised that the windows were cracked, if not shattered into pieces. the group tried to clean up as much glass as possible an then covered the windows with spare blankets. Light then mentally left and slept until 2pm the next day, when one of its roommates asked if it wanted to go to the HCC with them to see if there was any information.

April 17th-23

4/17: Light helps clean up glass from common areas and debris from pathways in the housing area.
4/18: Light continues to clean debris but quickly injures itself (lol). goes back to its apartment to take inventory of food and supplies.
4/19: Light helps with collective food resources and setting up the greenery for food storage and distribution.
4/20: Light continues to help with food storage, distribution, and inventory.
4/21: Light does not go into the mist, but does witness strange figures in the fog. Light decides that going in would be a bad idea, but is tempted to go in anyway.

April 24th-May 4th

As food runs dangerously low, Light decides to bite the bullet and go into the woods with a group to see if they can find Anything at all that could be eaten. No recognizable edible plants are found and the animals that the group does find are small and not worth it. However, the group does find some strange things in the woods. Notably, a hole with some strange properties.

It was like a voice was goading light to look into the hole, beckoning. Is the hole getting bigger? Are they getting closer to the hole? Its so comfortable here we should stay… a bird flies away and it knocks everyone out of their stupor. The group was way too close to the hole, which seemed to be as big as a picnic table. The group decides to go back to campus. When the group does make it back, they barely remember the hole, just a vague notion that they saw a hole, and the hole was kind of scary.

The group was actually pretty lucky because it seems that some people come back Affected. A few days prior someone who was documenting the changes that the fog had caused came back Strange, they had none of their notes on them either…

Another group goes into the woods in search of food and light decides to go with them because, well. Campus was dangerously low on food and rationing it this severely was bound to cause problems. So light went with the group to see if they would have any luck foraging, hunting, fishing Anything at all. The group finds some Abnormally Large Squirrels and it seems the squirrels are not used to the change in size, because the group is able to catch 2 of them. Which is not enough food for the amount of people who are hungry. The group starts arguing if they should take the squirrels back to campus or continue searching when Light notices something in the tall grass.

There was a safe just sitting there. Just chilling in the grass. Light<del> tries to move it and it’s pretty light….(lol) so Light decides to take it back to campus with a person to take the squirrels so that the larger group could continue searching and stop arguing. When [redacted] gets back to campus, it’s missing hours and it has such a bad headache that it sleeps for 14 hours straight, wakes up to mumble about the fog and sleeps for another 9 hours. When it wakes up for real it does not remember anything about the trip through the fog, the squirrels or the safe. This isn’t very good as the other part of the group that stayed to look for more food came back missing 2 more people and they wanted to ask [redacted] if they([redacted] and the other person who carried the squirrels) had come across them on the way to campus.</del>

Light did not make it back to campus, it found the safe, got separated from the other person who had the squirrels, and then passed out in the woods with the safe. Light is missing until the puzzle takes place and is not entirely lucid/acting like some bridge troll (you will solve my puzzles three(twelve) he he hoo hoo) when you find it.

May 5th-May 15th

after being removed from the woods, light escaped with the notes from the safe, citing “failing my puzzles” as the reason. while light has been spotted, it has been concerning. things light has been spotted doing:

staring at the sky (the sun…?) without blinking until jostled significantly

sleeping in odd places on the ground including in the middle of pathways.

frantically writing notes while muttering about various things like the fog, the sky, the water, …a hole???

dragging things into and out of the woods.

when noticing other people light will cackle and stumble away, still injured? has fallen on multiple occasions while escaping.
while aware, seems to be scarily jolly and jovial. keeps all prior knowledge and is able to do same things as before the fog, just, eccentric? and forgetful, and seems to be unable to comprehend why not letting people have crucial information unless they solve its puzzles is something that people are upset about. or it does understand and just doesn’t care

things only Light knows

eating certain plants and fungi mentioned in the safe notebooks, as well as the electricity crabs. time keeps escaping it, light will be in a haze, experience like 20 minute bursts of energy and awareness, and then go back into the haze where it cant really do anything but stare/mumble, or it will fall asleep. poor memory of what happens when in a haze. does understand why people are upset its just stopped caring about everything. its siblings are probably dead, its friends off campus are probably dead, the thing behind the sky doesn’t give a shit about humanity. theres infighting and despite helping with rationing and distributing food to ensure that everyone would get what they needed, food ran out fast. nothing Light does matters. nothing anyone does matters. why not have fun until its over?

Light is effected by the fog and it makes light dissociate and have brain fog, and act a bit strangely, but Light is acting out of grief and refusing to acknowledge it when it does things like steal information, make people solve puzzles, or scare people. Light has shitty coping mechanisms i mean.

also, Light is building a “machine”, what it does? no one knows… (lemon demon “the machine” starts playing if you want to know what kind of machine…) meant as a red herring or something, idk, thought it might be fun for this character to cause problems

May 16th-June 1st

Light has been causing problems around campus, it has stolen keys and passcodes to buildings and hidden them in puzzles, it has stolen random items when no one is looking and hidden them behind riddles, and recently the longhouse memorials have been the target. Without fail. Every. Single. Night. For a whole week. Light has broken in and rearranged the memorial items into I Spy puzzles (riddles and all). Technically there is no proof that it is Light doing this, most of the times anyone’s even interacted with Light it has been staring into space or rambling about the forest and the sky. But everyone can guess who’s making the puzzles after the picross safe incident.

June 2-June 9

Light has continued causing problems- sorry, puzzles around campus but has recently been contained to the longhouse following an attempted escape that resulted in a fresh ankle twisting. light is now being “babysat” by miranda and has somehow??? managed to tell people where paul was in the fog? there is no reasonable means to which light knew this, so is it a fog thing? its “i spy puzzles” seem to be hints in some sense??? if people humor light and complete the puzzle then light will give a riddle about an item, why???? when Light is not lucid it just stares at the sky or a reflection of it for hours or it sleeps, but when it is Mentally There it decides to spend its time with puzzles. as its had more chances to talk to someone for longer than a few sentences, its become clear that Light knows something about the fog that others dont. again, is this a fog thing? or is it just a Light thing? It insists that those not touched by the fog are not “Allowed” to know, something about it being dangerous? that what Light knows is what changes people…

its a cognitohazard, Light is playing around what can be known without harm and what would lead to people figuring out what the cognitohazard is. it really is trying to help, its just really annoying about it. people think that knowing what light knows would help them avoid fog sickness when knowing IS the fog sickness. i think that Light directly Talked to What’s Behind the Sky.

June 9-June 20

Light has been medicated for fog sickness but nothing really changes, Light already had most symptoms before the disaster, but the fog had just amplified the issues. The new medications have made Light feel a bit better and have made Lights life a little easier, not sleeping for 20 hours and being able to think for more than a few hours a day does wonders for it. Light has a bit of hope, olympia isn’t completely gone, it’s friend is still alive, it just took a while to find him. So maybe, just maybe, Light’s other friends and family might be alive…
Light still makes puzzles, other people have a bit more enthusiasm when light doesn’t block important doorways, but light is still a bit disappointed in the reaction… People being angry is funny…
The other effects of fog sickness that Light had are not caused by the fog, Light still refuses to tell people how it knows things and is adamant that it is not a “Player” anymore. Whatever that means…
Light does think it’s funny to play keep away with information. Especially when the information should not be shared, cannot be shared. Because the information is dangerous.
When the sun fully shuts Light is not scared. It stares and laughs.
You have every hint you need to know what’s behind the sky. Should you know? No. But you can. You just have to look a little harder.

April 16th, The Day It Happened Light saw the sky split into infinite red and the earth shred itself apart.
