Adrenaline begins to wear off and the group feels heavy and tired. they agree on a series of watches so people can start getting some rest.

Day Two

2:00 am a huge boom. the group all wakes. anxiety builds, uncertainty feels palpable. [redacted] starts to panic. the cohort talks her down. building trust in one another is there biggest bet at this point. they know soon they will have to start reaching out to the others on campus which feels simultaneously comforting and disconcerting.

9:am Andrew goes for a walk outside the CAB building looking for somewhere to collect his thoughts about the world around him. As he walks down the stairs towards the clock tower he sees an old man sweeping. As he gets closer he hears the man muttering under his breath. Something about tax day and maybe the fog? He makes a mental note to tell the group

10:00 am we can hear many voices outside. andrew proposes two or three of us leave to begin touching base with the others. it doesn’t seem like it makes too much sense to hole up.

there is some push back from the others, as keeping a low profile feels safe but andrew insists, with the food stores we have at this point there’s incentive to start fostering relationships at large.

12:00 Casually approaching other groups, our little tribe begins to learn of the bigger picture and what the rest of our classmates and fellow students have been up to.

there seems to have been great organization as far as getting medical supplies and helping those that have been hurt, our group feels mildly shameful for having been so self seeking, though they realize such intense circumstances we’ve never faced.

12:30 we hear there is going to be a meeting that night 6pm red square

3pm ashe heads to the parking lot in attempt to get more supplies from their car. they are met with absolute chaos. it looks as though whatever creatures coming from the mist have obliterated most if not all of the cars in the lot. ashe is speechless, shaking, and backtracks.

4pm somehow. word catches that our little group is the one to have pillaged the bookstore. this is not good. distrust of the five of us is immediate. consequences look like they may be grave as the majority of the students are in control of the food stores. Zoey is particularly outspoken about the ‘crime’ we have done. Nate stands up to her, particularly diplomatic explaining we meant no harm and are doing our best just like everyone else is. Zoey demands we bring everything we have to the Einstein bagels.

4:30 They return to CPJ. Ashe is on edge and suggests we keep some of the items we have. The group feels at a loss, uncertain of how to navigate this development. The group of students organizing doesn’t feel particularly stable and it feels dangerous to put all our trust in them, but equally dangerous to potentially position ourselves as the outsiders.

We agree to hide a few fundamental tools and items and offer the rest

6pm everyone meets there is a lot of noise and talking over each other. little coherence is had. attempts at running the group are made to no avail and largely power struggles seem to arise. our group stays silent for the most part watching on the outside.

[redacted] takes it upon himself to join the group trying to get in contact with olympia as it seems our best bet. we connect with a good friend Dreama! she has been hiding in the basement of the library all this time and has familiarized herself greatly with the archives and inner workings of evergreen.

we pull her to our post.

emotionally exhausted the future feels completely in the air. everything we’ve ever known seems far away and entirely futile. the gravity of the situation begins to weigh upon us. no knowing where our friend and family are. not knowing if the world at large is falling apart, nor how long us or our fellow comrades are to live to see another day. we take solace in having each other and being at evergreen, for perhaps that is our saving grace.

Day Three

All attention is put on the radio station trying to get information. We begin to realize getting potable water is going to be our most imminent issue at hand.

Andrew again makes a trip to the clock tower, wondering if he will see the old man again. As he walks down the stairs he sees him again. He was sweeping, just like he was doing the day before. This time he walks up to him and says hello. The old man looks up and mutters something about annoying kids and goes back to sweeping. Andrew walks away

We maintain a daily meeting at noon at red square, and luckily the clock tower still runs.

Trust is building between us and the others. Fortunately is seems as though for the most part, people’s finest colors are showing and we all put our best foot forward trying to figure this out.

Day Four

Guessing that the old man will be at the clock tower again around the same time, andrew makes the trip over there. This time he is just going to observe the old man from a distance, figuring out what he is doing there and when he leaves. From 9 to the moment the clock strikes 11am the old man sweeps and mutters. At 11 he starts to shuffle away from the campus and towards the dorms. Andrew does not follow

Much commotion in the forest is heard. Groups of students figuring out how to begin to get through some of the forest. it seems as though it is a labyrinth of sorts.

Day Five

Andrew makes his now daily trip to the clock tower to watch the old man. This time he finds a broom and sweeps a little. The old man looks up as he sweeps and then goes back to sweeping. By sweeping Andrew is able to get closer to the old man and he more of his muttereing. Not only is he somehow blaming the students for missing tax day, he’s muttering about the fog. I think it has to do with how to get through it or something.

One group has discovered how to distill water and another group has crafted weapons in the metal shop. A great relief and hope that we may be able to survive longer. With still around a thousand mouths to feed, tensions begin to rise between the big personalities that have floated to the top of each cohort.

Day Six

Power struggle imminent. There are those who feel left behind having taken the time to care for the wounded, those who have made leaps and bounds in other arenas are leaving them out, disregarding the value brought to the group at large. Fights, territories divided- it is finally agreed there will be a meeting at evan’s hall tomorrow to solidify how to move forward best as a whole

Day Seven

meeting takes place

April 24th-May 4th

In an attempt to show our group ethic Andrew and Ashe and [redacted] energetically get behind the whole electromagnetic crab qualm.
The fog is pretty terrifying and natural elements continue to evolve but we’re beginning to see patterns.
We make graphs to determine when the best times are to approach the water. This issue completely absorbs us and [redacted] speculates about if we would be able to harness their energy in some fashion. She is tasked with finding science students that may know more about this.

All the while larger steads are developed, the little cohort deliberates whether or not to move camp.

Ashe decides to get a zine making group together to spread information and resources faster, running around campus looking for others who may have valuable information to add, we end up creating a big group of people that are essentially a printing press each making separate versions of the original copy, this will be a valuable resource!

May 5th-May 15th

We’re all over the place. Running around campus trying to piece together what everyone is up to. Its hard to even sit here and write but part of me needs the outlet and maybe it will come to use for someone, someday. Ironically, this apocalypse scenario feels right. It feels like the daily humdrum and monotony of what it means to be a human in modern America has dissipated. There are tragedies. People are missing. Creatures seem to change day by day but I feel space to breathe. Space to be. Space to build. Space to figure things out.

I am worried about Sam. It’s horrible timing for her to have been gone that day and I don’t know what to make of the missing persons posters… A twisted joke, it seems eerie to me.

Everyone seems so trusting and I try to be the same but I am keeping weary and watching very closely how people treat one another and if their words vary from their actions.

Its amazing to see how everyone’s unique talents are able to shine in so many ways. We’re learning an immense amount about people and its beautiful seeing how the nuances of each of our talents are contributing to our overall ‘wealth’. Lol wealth. Do we get to update Websters now. What is wealth when the world is crumbling. And again, why does this feel so right. I love being with my community. And the usual decision fatigue we face each day at the grocery store, thousands of options, thousands of implications. Gone.

Would be nice to get those gardens going, squirrels are a little tough. Thank the universe its spring and not winter.

As the days start to blend together, the group starts a habit of taking daily walks around the campus. Things change everyday. On one particular day, Ashe, [redacted] and Andrew take a walk and are startled by a Black bear running through campus as if running from something. Close at its heels is a large deer with sharp horns, running at full speed.

Later in the day [redacted] and Andrew see the bear eating feverishly as though it hasn’t eaten in ages. Andrew slowly walks up to the bear. The bear, sensing that Andrew isn’t a threat, slowly walks towards him sniffing as it goes. It gets really close and Andrew reaches his hand out and pets the bear.

May 16th-June 1

Andrew, being very interested in the fog, decides to join a group of fellow classmates that are investigating the fog. Having gained some knowledge from Bartholomew, he and a few fellow students get a group together to traverse the fog. Begrudgingly, Bartholomew decides to help. One group goes into the fog while the other one stays outside, communicating only through walkie talkies.

Phew, things are getting tense. I think going to Olympia is our only hope. I’m worried about our friends who are hurt. And we need to have more options for food and medical supplies. I’m actually shocked how well we’re still doing with what we have. I don’t know how we will get there but there has to be a way.

In other news. Talking animals? What a world to live in. New perspectives and everything I’ve ever wanted. Territory seems to be a bit of an issue. We’ve really been camping CPJ but not out of exclusivity but more comfort. It feels unnerving to think of moving camp. I guess we are clinging to what small normalcies we’ve gently fostered.

It’s not fun to be above KAOS and the greenery. There always seems to be commotion. I want to start a movement group! I think it will help people who are anxious with grounding themselves. Alright so my idea is Chaos Yoga. Meet in Red Square noon everyday and its different everytime. The idea being keep it fresh and stretch, ahhhhh. Maybe the printing committee will help flyer.

Honestly. I dont think we could have been stuck anywhere better. Evergreen Campus is a Mecca. We have everything. So many resources and we have a lotttt of space. I expect if we can become self-sustaining students will start getting very creative.

June 2nd – June 9th

Okay! Its happening. Our friends at Evans Hall have deciphered the fog patterns well enough they think we can get through to Oly. Its pretttttty risky, but thats kinda my bag. Our goal is. Make contact, fill in the gaps with what morsels weve heard over the radio. Sounds like things are messy. We have hope.

P2 Well. That was a whirlwind. I don’t know where to start. Honestly not going to be able even begin to cover everything we learned. Andrew was an invaluable accomplice. We were able to pull together a few different key players from the local olympia community? Ooh! Do we get names?! Everyone is all twisted up. The Community committee hates the punks, the Goldies, bless their heart seem to have qualms at every turn, but also have really leveled my head about trauma- Ie world war drama iterated, this pales in comparision. I am in awe at the resiliency that generation showed. The stories, the pain, the strength. Incredible. If there’s one good thing to come out of all this, its that this generation is seeing the respect they deserve. Instead of an invisible separated divide, where we slough off the elderly to their respective units, with a visit or two a year as prize.

I digress. Anyway. We managed to wrangle a plethora of personalities. They all have their incentives, but I think there is a mutual understanding that together we are strong.

That being said… I think it’s gonna take some work to get there.

Are we able to set aside fundamental differences to work together or will there always be this resonating dissonance between varying perspectives. I do think as far as scalability is concerned, we have more of an advantage than ever. Instead of our concepts of community being the 340 million that comprises the United States, we now have a more palatable size. I don’t think our brains are well adept for comprehending the infinite connection the internet has utilized.

We really hope we can make this happen. Andrew is a really grounding force. He knows how to keep his cool and keep the larger goals in mind. I’m grateful to have this cohort or we wouldn’t be able to pull these people. Its interesting how power dynamics have shifted, I see many of those who seem to have been living post-apocalyptically before all this went down are way more well-equipped than the student population. Resourcefulness and having an eye for the world around us. As our current structure is dissolving and the fog displaces more and more, it’s become almost an equalizer. These invisible laws that have been choking so many, now we have the ability to move freely. There is certainly a level of chaos. And those who are more dependent on the medical system are being hit hard. But we are all trying to help each other without the constant expectation of our droll and often meaningless roles, im talkin insurance adjusters people.

Alright. More about our power players later but I’ll at least outline whos currently on campus!!! Send luck.

Quartz Geolo-

Rocky – got hurt by the cops

Ruth-

Ash (suss)- Cop

Blaire

June 2nd-June 9th

This week has been an unforeseen challenge. I thought we would bring the leaders to Evergreen to deliberate on how to aid one another. It turns out they each have their own itinerary. Which I suppose makes perfect sense. Now I’m even surprised we got each of them to come along with one another.
They held a town meeting of sorts where Evergreeners acquiesced to a range of tasks each group desired fulfilled. In the end there was a big commotion in trying to get everyone to be agreeable with one another. Evergreeners insisted they must pool resources and efforts, however the rifts between respective groups seemed too large.

Around and around went efforts of placation, with parties disappointed on all sides. Soon Tescers discovered they only had the facilities to aid three groups and they chose the EMS, Granolys, and Anarchists in turn creating an enemy for themselves with the COPS. And sadly neglecting the Goldies. I’m sure the consequences of the choices will continue to show themselves but for the time being alignments earned us our own professional medic, supposed ability to explore Olympia unscathed, and food from the Granolies.

April 16th, The Day It Happened 1pm – 5:30pm: Andrew and Ashe play Frisbee on the field 5:45: Walk to Class 6pm: Class Starts 8pm: Walk outside and stare at the sky.
