{"id":341,"date":"2024-08-20T10:49:14","date_gmt":"2024-08-20T17:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/washcenter\/?page_id=341"},"modified":"2024-08-20T15:20:20","modified_gmt":"2024-08-20T22:20:20","slug":"visiting-scholars","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/washcenter\/visiting-scholars\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting Scholars"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Washington Center invites educators and researchers with an interest in the Center&#8217;s programs or the unique pedagogies and programs of The Evergreen State College to submit a proposal to join us as a visiting scholar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Visiting Scholars have the opportunity to engage with faculty, staff, and students at The Evergreen State College as well as the Washington Center&#8217;s national collaborative through a range of activities including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interviews and focus groups<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating in-person or virtual workshops<\/li>\n<li>Attending campus events<\/li>\n<li>Class observations<\/li>\n<li>Guest lectures<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to publish in the Washington Center Collaborative newsletter and\/or The Learning and Teaching Commons newsletter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Washington Center does not provide funding for visiting scholars at this time. The Center provides the following services and support for visiting scholars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel and lodging information and recommendations<\/li>\n<li>Promotion of events related to the visiting scholar&#8217;s work<\/li>\n<li>Office space<\/li>\n<li>Coordination of schedule including scheduling meetings with faculty, staff, and\/or student groups aligned with the scholar&#8217;s work<\/li>\n<li>Arranging tours of campus facilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visiting Scholars can be onsite for one week up to one month. Her work focuses on shifting the narrative from sustainable to regenerative design that creates intersectional, systems change for the masses. She encourages regenerative actions to restore, rejuvenate, and reenergize ourselves, our communities, and our planet. An academic geek, she develops meaningful learning experiences and investigates co-creation of teaching and learning. Her research explores designing safe pedagogical spaces that are inclusive, interesting, and kind. Her current project \u2018kindness in\u00a0pedagogy\u2019 explores kind academic practices. These include engaging \u2018Students as Partners\u2019,\u00a0\u2018joyful teaching\u2019, and creating \u2018equity-driven academic culture\u2019. She also collaborates with\u00a0artists and game designers to produce creative narratives.
