For Tuesday read through the left nav bar topics at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.utah.edu\/~tahbaz\/winesite\/making.htm\">Wine For Beginners<\/a> (overview, harvesting, crushing, juice separation, must treatment, fermentation, and clarification)\u00a0 Before reading these pages review the list of approved additives and processes for wine and the Carte De Menu, pages\u00a0 207-212 in <em>Naked Wine.\u00a0 <\/em>While reading note connections to what you learned on the field trip and from reading <em><em>Naked Wine.\u00a0<\/em> <\/em>The wikipedia page on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yeast_in_winemaking\">yeasts in wine making<\/a> is also a good resource<\/p>\n<p>Cultural Studies:\u00a0 Selections from <em>Wine and Culture, Vineyard to Glass (<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/terroir\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/134\/2015\/10\/wine-and-culture.pdf.pdf\">wine and culture.pdf<\/a>. <\/em>All students read \u201cIntroduction\u201d and then select 1 additional chapter of the 3 options included in the PDF.\u00a0 Choose either \u201cThe Social Life of Terroir among Bordeaux Winemakers\u201d; or \u201cThe Things that Count: Rethinking Terroir in Australia,\u201d or \u201cTerroir and Locality: An Anthropological Perspective.&#8221;\u00a0 <em>NOTE:\u00a0 Please consider reading this PDF online and taking notes by opening a parallel file (an electronic notebook) rather than printing the PDF or handwriting your notes.\u00a0 That is, experiment with online means of reading and annotating the process of your mind touching and being touched by the intro + one additional chapter of your choice.\u00a0 Then bring a printed copy of your annotations&#8211;the documentation of your reading process, complete with favorite quotes, new words, insights, provocations, questions, etc. to lecture Tuesday and seminar Wednesday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Earth Science: Please read Ch.17 of Grotzinger for Week 6.\u00a0 We will be covering it over Tuesday and Friday&#8211; focusing on water availability water storage in aquifers.
