Armani’s Symbolic Image of Kidney

Image

Text from Xiu Zhen Tu that influenced my drawing;
“The kidney belongs to the northern direction and the water”
“Its name is mystic darkness of the night”
“The kidney looks like egg-shaped stones”
“It governs and distributes water and qi, irrigating whole being”
“They are like roots of trees and plants”
“Selfhood born out of heaven and qi in it is known as Jing”
“Jing and qi circulate back and forth because of Shen”
“In the place of kidney there is black circular watch tower”

“The Kidneys are a source of water, blood, and other bodily fluids. They are the fire element and the “original Qi”. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidneys are said to help with reproductive health as well as with regulating the body’s circulations of its natural fluids.”

“According to ancient Chinese medicine the kidney and bladder meridian are responsible
for balancing and storing one’s qi as well as the total flow of energy in a person’s body. It is
believed that the kidneys store the essence or “Jing.” Jing is a concentrated source of qi that
resides in one’s body and allows you to be energetic and creative. The less Jing you possess the
more you might experience a feeling of stress or anxiety as well as a lack of motivation.”
