{"id":789,"date":"2017-01-08T01:18:02","date_gmt":"2017-01-08T08:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/?p=789"},"modified":"2017-01-08T02:23:59","modified_gmt":"2017-01-08T09:23:59","slug":"winter-first-day-quiz-info","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/winter-first-day-quiz-info\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter First Day Quiz and Prep info"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>As noted in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/winter-break-reading\/\">Winter Break Reading<\/a><\/strong>, there will be a quiz on our first day of winter quarter, at our first class meeting.<\/li>\n<li>The quiz will cover material from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/175\/_mediavault\/2016\/12\/LayChapter01.pdf\">Lay chapter 1.1-1.5<\/a><\/strong> (originally, I had also planned a first day quiz on material from Griffiths, but that has changed &#8211; see below)\n<ul>\n<li>Each assigned section in Lay chapter 1 has some True\/False questions. For convenience, they are collected <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/175\/_mediavault\/2017\/01\/LayCh1TF.pdf\">here<\/a><\/strong>. The first day quiz questions will be based on these.<\/li>\n<li>You may want to answer them and discuss your responses using the online annotation tool at nb.mit.edu; see <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/winter-quarter-reading-responses-using-online-annotation-software\/\">this post<\/a><\/strong> for details.<\/li>\n<li>Note that for all future reading assignments in Lay, this set of True\/False questions at the end of each section will be considered as part of the reading assignment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Originally, I had planned a first day quiz covering material from Griffiths 1.1-1.4.\n<ul>\n<li>Instead, we will review this material rapidly in class on the first day.<\/li>\n<li>In lieu of a first day quiz, I will need your feedback on what particularly you need to see covered in class.<\/li>\n<li>You can give me this feedback either via:\n<ul>\n<li>the Griffiths Chapter 1 pdf available at nb.mit.edu (see <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/psam1617\/winter-quarter-reading-responses-using-online-annotation-software\/\">this post<\/a><\/strong> for details) or;<\/li>\n<li>if you can&#8217;t use that tool for any reason, you can send me an email that follows the reading response format from fall quarter: for each section or sub-section, describe a) the big physics concept(s); b) the big math(s); c) questions about examples; d) questions\/topics you&#8217;d like to spend class time on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>This feedback is due by 9am Mon.
