These right-wing governments  are also cutting taxes on the wealthy, furthering the inequality of income and wealthy between the rich and the rest of us, cutting social programs like food stamps, supporting the  growth of police states and furthering anti-immigrant and racial hatred in an attempt to gain support for their pro wealthy and right-wing agenda. All is not gloom and doom. There is growing resistance and opposition, from the black lives matter movement, support for immigrants and refugees along  many borders, not only the U.S.- Mexican Border but also in Southern Europe, a growing climate justice and labor movement,  e.g., the teachers and prisoners strikes, for health care for all and the growth In the United States of socialist parties and social-democratic campaigns like Bernie Sanders and outspoken congresswomen such as AOC, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar. These important movements are growing much faster than the white supremacist and white nationalist ones. The 2020 election is a very important and so are the social movements which are necessary if we are to create a just world. We are in a period of crisis, environmental, gross economic and racial inequality and instability, the threat of growing U.S. war against Iran and growth of authoritarianism and fascist tendencies but also a period of opportunity and possibility. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":175,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false},"categories":[9,10,11],"tags":[17,34,36,52,57,59,62,81,85],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2158"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/175"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2158"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2158\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2158"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2158"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2158"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
