{"id":1111,"date":"2012-09-08T16:26:54","date_gmt":"2012-09-08T23:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.evergreen.edu\/bohmerp\/?p=1111"},"modified":"2012-09-08T16:26:54","modified_gmt":"2012-09-08T23:26:54","slug":"talk-on-grand-juries-september-7th-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/peterbohmer\/talk-on-grand-juries-september-7th-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Talk on Grand Jury Repression: September 7th, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are living in a period of increased surveillance, especially electronic, and \u00a0the use of police at the local, State, and national level to limit protest and \u00a0resistance to an economic and social system that is broken and needs to be revolutionized, transformed.\u00a0&#8230; Grand Juries, especially Federal Grand Juries, have been continually used as tools of political repression and increasingly to jail those who refuse to cooperate with government investigations of radical movements.\u00a0 &#8230; The most recent case and the focus of tonight\u2019s meeting is the Federal Grand Jury that convened in Seattle in July, 2012.
