Planting Seeds
“All who wonder will not last
We’ll close our eyes and sing
and when the winter’s spell has past
we’ll plant these seeds again”
We’ll close our eyes and sing
and when the winter’s spell has past
we’ll plant these seeds again”
- Excerpt from the song ‘All Who Wonder’ by Ahniwa Ferrari
Some seasons are right for bright-eyed wonder. Some urge us to focus inwards, find warmth where we can, raise our voices in song. It’s different for each of us: which season we are in, what kind of capacity we have – but it’s also true for all of us, the season for growing, for opening our eyes, for wonder will return, and we’ll plant these seeds again.
I wrote this in April of 2025 when the world seemed crazy and, as it turns out, the world still seems crazy, and I still find solace in this message. I wouldn’t normally reference my own work like this, but this song is going to be performed by The Evergreen Singers in the very near future, so it seemed worth mentioning. If you’d like to hear it, along with a bunch of other great songs, you should attend the free recital happening on Friday, March 13 at 7pm in the COM Recital Hall.

Display Your Work in the Library
Submissions are now open for Spring Quarter Exhibit Proposals! If you’d like to see your artwork in the library display cases during spring quarter, fill out the Evergreen Library Exhibition Proposal Form by March 9, 2026.
Now with 100% More Piano!
To help meet the needs of our students studying music, the library has installed a piano in one of our bookable study rooms to supplement the existing piano practice rooms in the COM. The equipment is a Yamaha P-71 digital piano (identical to the P-45) with 88 fully weighted keys.
The room can be scheduled any time during the library’s open hours. Just visit the self-service scheduling page and select “Lib 0424” as the room you’d like to book. This room is located in the Library Underground (basement level) and keys are checked out at our circulation desk.
We hope that this will be an exciting, additional option for students who want to spend time practicing piano in a quiet space. We ask that everyone taking advantage of this service utilize the available headphones and be respectful of the people studying in rooms around them.
