Week 2 News

A few reminders for this week.

  1. Performance workshop will be Tuesday a.m. this week instead of Thursday p.m. – change is for this week only.
  2. Writing prompt for seminar can be found under the seminar prompt heading.
  3. I am posting a page with some youtube links to solfege demonstrations for those of you wanting some guidance for additional practice.  Look for the solfege heading at the top of this blogsite.
  4. We are beginning with experiential work tomorrow – walking in late for this work will be too disruptive.  If you arrive after 10:00 a.m. you will not have access into the classroom until we have completed the first portion of our work.  Allow enough time in your schedule to arrive comfortably before 10:00 – at least 10 minutes – did I say “at least” ?  Oh, yes, I did!  At least 10 minutes before we begin.

Thursday Movement Workshop

Thank you all for an excellent first seminar!

For Thursday’s movement workshop, please dress in clothing that allows you to move comfortably.  We begin at 10:00 a.m. in our regular room (please arrive, as we all agreed in the discussion of our program covenant, with enough  time to get settled before 10:00) and move to the dance studio (209) at 10:45.  Our movement workshop is scheduled to end at 12:30 after which we will take our lunch break with performance workshop beginning by 1:30.

Wednesday Seminar

For our seminar meeting please bring all texts and typed seminar paper with you.  I understand that the bookstore ran out of copies of the Margulis text “On Repeat” before all of you were able to purchase a copy.  I have attached a PDF scan of the pages assigned for tomorrow as well as the seminar prompt for our discussion.  A PDF scan of the reading from “Sweet Anticipation” can be found under the “Readings” page tab at the top of the blogsite. Looking forward to seeing all of you comfortably settled in Com 117 before 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Seminar Prompt 1

Welcome to The Nature of Music

Looking forward to seeing each of you on Monday, September 28th!

Class begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. in the communication building room 117.  This is a full program with a full waiting list. In order to best accommodate as many students as possible, it will be assumed that anyone not in attendance at 9:00 a.m. on Monday is no longer planning to be part of this learning community and you will be removed from the roster to make room for an interested student in attendance.
