In a class I am currently teaching on the Supreme Court and public administration, I have found myself returning to a quote from Justice Thurgood Marshall: \u201cThe process of democracy is one of change. Our laws are not frozen into immutable form; they are constantly\u00a0in the process of revision\u00a0in response to the needs of a changing society.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are, indeed, a changing society. You, our alumni, are among those writing the revisions. This is both a profound responsibility and an opportunity. We hope you are continuing to draw on the values of the MPA program as your guide: embrace diversity, value\u00a0fairness\u00a0and equity, advocate powerfully on behalf of the public, and,\u00a0perhaps most\u00a0importantly,\u00a0imagine new possibilities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In the spirit of new possibilities,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0writing to share a few updates from the MPA program.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:true,&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are looking forward to\u00a0recognizing\u00a0our graduating students at this year\u2019s Capstone Celebration on May 30th at 10:00 AM, followed by a celebratory lunch at the House of Welcome. All are welcome! We are encouraged by the success of this inaugural year and look forward to building on this momentum. Cheryl served as faculty member at Evergreen for 25 years and was a trailblazer in public administration. Her leadership, mentorship, and commitment to ethical public service left a lasting impact on our program and the field at large.
