Washington Sea Grant offers unique, paid educational opportunities for emerging professionals.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Highly motivated, qualified individuals are teamed with mentors in a host office for one to two years, working on marine and coastal projects. Apply for the Hershman Fellowship, the Coastal Resilience Fellowship and\/or the Keystone Fellowship. Apply by April 29th, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hershman Fellowship<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Eligible host organizations & location<\/strong><\/p>\n

State, Tribal, and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, maritime and aquaculture industries based in WA<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year (September 16, 2026 to September 15, 2027)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topic area<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ocean and coastal science, policy and management issues<\/p>\n

2026 stipend<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each fellow will receive a stipend of\u00a0$65,000\u00a0plus a\u00a0$3,500\u00a0professional development budget administered by Washington Sea Grant.<\/p>\n

Fellow criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Open to recently-graduated masters students (within the past two years) and second-year masters students from Washington state-based colleges and universities<\/p>\n

Work set up<\/strong><\/p>\n

In-person, hybrid, or remote according to host preference<\/p>\n

Coastal Resilience Fellowship<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Eligible host organizations & location<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tribes, local nonprofits, municipalities, special districts, conservation districts, and other local entities working on projects focused on coastal resilience along WA’s coastlines. State and federal entities are not eligible for this fellowship.<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two years (September 16, 2026 to September 15, 2028)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Capacity building for coastal resilience<\/p>\n

2026 stipend<\/strong><\/p>\n

$75,000\u00a0in year 1,\u00a0$78,000\u00a0in year 2, and an annual professional development budget of\u00a0$5,000<\/p>\n

Fellow criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minimum education and experience based on host project needs. Preference for applicants who have lived, learned, and\/or worked in Washington\u2019s coastal communities<\/p>\n

Keystone Fellowship<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Eligible host organizations & location<\/strong><\/p>\n

State, Tribal, and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, maritime and aquaculture industries based in WA with programs in coastal or marine research, policy, or management<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year (September 16, 2026 to September 15, 2027)<\/p>\n
