MPA Faculty member, Eric S. Trevan, PhD co-authored with Native News Online Staff, economic impact report regarding the Tribal Business Entities in Michigan (non-gaming), published on July 7th, 2020.<\/p>\n
The Michigan Non-Gaming Tribal Economic Impact Study found that 38 non-gaming business entities owned by nine federally recognized Michigan tribes created nearly $288.8 million in economic impact in 2019. The study was commissioned by the tribal businesses involved and underwritten by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).<\/p>\n
\u201cTribal business entities have a positive impact on the economy,\u201d said Eric Trevan, Ph.D., a co-author of the study. \u201cA job on the reservation is a job for the region. Public policy should support ongoing growth that increases multiplier effects for surrounding economies.\u201d<\/p>\n
