Every year, Evergreen’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program invites stakeholders and alumni to a Summer Institute to share their thoughts on what the public sector currently needs from our graduates. This year, the general discussion revolved around the question, “What new innovations will drive public service in the future?” The institute occurred August 2, 2019.

Over 20 stakeholders, alumni, and current students shared their perspectives in small groups while faculty and staff facilitators took notes. Questions asked in smaller groups were “How do we adapt to innovation?” “What challenges do we as a society need to overcome to provide optimal public services to the public” and “How can we better prepare our students for careers in government and nonprofits?”

At the end of the institute, participants had the opportunity to report back to the group and share greater insights and takeaways from the afternoon. The MPA program thanks our stakeholders and alumni for spending the afternoon with us and helping us answer these important questions!
