Adjunct Faculty Member, Jon Panamaroff, was recently featured in the Washington Post, Fortune, Boston Herald, The Hill and many other national news outlets in an Associated Press story highlighting the economic diversification of Native American Tribal Nations after the COVID-19 pandemic.

As CEO of Command Holdings, a company owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Jon has led the firm through three major acquisitions in the last two years, expanding the company to 450 employees and further solidifying a revenue stream for the Tribal Nation beyond hospitality. Command Holdings has four core operating groups with expertise in health, facilities, professional services, and technology. The operating firms have government contracts with federal agencies and the Department of Defense.

Jon is a member of the Sun’aq tribe of Kodiak, Alaska. Formerly, he was the Chief Compliance & Business Integration Officer of Koniag Government Services (KGS), President of the Koniag Education Foundation, and CEO of the Kodiak Brown Bear Center, all subsidiaries/affiliates of Koniag, Inc.

Before his time at Koniag, Jon had spent his professional career in finance and Native American economic development working with/for Native-owned corporations, community development financial institutions, the federal government, and banks.

He was the former President and CEO of Colville Tribal Solutions Corporation, Willapa Bay Enterprises Corporation, and First Nations Oweesta Corporation (CDFI), and Northwest Zone Credit Manager for the Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development- Division of Capital Investments at the Department of the Interior.

Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with departmental honors in both disciplines from Eastern Washington University (EWU). Jon also graduated with a Master of Public Administration from EWU.

He has completed industry-focused programs at the University of Washington, the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, and Harvard Business School. He is currently completing his Ph.D. at the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.

Jon will be teaching the Tribal Organizations course this spring.
