Linda Isakson recently joined the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s communications team. Isakson—a 2017 graduate of Evergreen’s Master of Public Administration graduate program—will serve as a communications partner and strategist for PNNL, particularly focused on amplifying the Lab’s achievements in biology and in the environmental and molecular sciences.

Linda has a background in both environmental science and communications. In addition to her Evergreen MPA, she has a bachelor’s degree in environmental analysis and design and a master’s in ecology with a focus on aquatic sciences. Before joining PNNL, Linda served the residents and leaders of Thurston County as a communications lead at Thurston County Public Works. Prior roles include environmental specialist with the City of Oceanside, California; water quality protection program manager with the City of Vista, California; and ecologist with Fairfax County Public Works.

“Linda Isakson is an energetic and accomplished communications leader,” writes Michelle Ma, manager of the Lab’s science communications group. “Her domain familiarity will help her easily connect with PNNL’s researchers and leaders and will inform impactful communications efforts to help us meet our business goals.”

Linda has garnered several awards over the span of her career. She received the Washington State Department of Ecology Leadership Award (2013), Oceanside’s Partnership Recognition Award (2004), the California League of Cities Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Planning and Environmental Quality (2003), and Oceanside’s Mayor’s Excellence in Service Award (2002).
