Professor Corey Larson presents Willie Frank III, with Wa He Lut Indian School with a Billy Frank History Collage Set from the Tribal Governance MPA Program at Evergreen State College. International renowned activist, Billy Frank Jr., a Northwest Coast Tribal Member (Nisqually) played a key role in the “Fish Wars” of the 1960’s and 1970’s, resulting in a landmark decision affirming tribal fishing rights. This presentation coincides with the State’s annual Billy Frank Jr. Day occurring this year on March 9, 2026. Formerly displayed at the MPA offices, the Program wished to give the display to the students and staff at the school located within the Frank’s Landing Indian Community located on the Nisqually River in western WA.
