Greetings Friends and Alumni of Evergreen’s Master of Public Administration Program,

As we start Winter Quarter 2024, Evergreen’s MPA program continues its mission to “be the change” in Washington and the world. In September, we welcomed 29 new students in Olympia and 20 new students in Tacoma. As we began this year, we were very excited to welcome Dr. Larry Geri back as an active MPA faculty member. Larry was on sabbatical last year and before that served as one of Evergreen’s Curriculum Deans. We also welcomed Ben Feldbush as an adjunct faculty member teaching the MPA core curriculum with Doreen Swetkis in Tacoma.  Ben is a program manager with Comprehensive Life Resources and a faculty member at Tacoma Community College, as well as an alum of the first ever Tacoma MPA cohort graduating in 2021.  We are thrilled that students in the latest Tacoma cohort will benefit from Ben’s experience and expertise in nonprofit and program management. Learn more about Ben further down in this newsletter.

In addition, MPA program staff and faculty continue to be out and about.  Our assistant directors, Marcia and Puanani, have made recent visits to the University of Oregon, Western Washington University, and Northwest Indian College, and Puanani also participated in this year’s Centennial Accord meeting at the Lucky Eagle Event Center in Rochester. And Professor Lucky Anguelov and I represented Evergreen’s MPA program this October at the annual meeting for the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration in Pittsburgh. Look for us at other upcoming events, including the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians conference in Portland in January!

Finally, the MPA program has opened its admissions portal for the Fall 2024 cohorts in Olympia and Tribal Governance, and Marcia and Puanani are holding information sessions on for prospective MPA program students.  If you know a person who would excel in our program, please let them know about us and encourage them to learn more at https://www.evergreen.edu/academics/graduate-studies/master-public-administration

Wishing you the best in the upcoming holiday season and for 2024!

Sincerely,

Michael Craw

MPA Director
