MPA faculty Lucky Anguelov and Mike Craw represented The Evergreen State College at this year’s Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) conference, held October 11-13 in Pittsburgh, PA. This annual conference is for MPA program staff and faculty focusing on public service curriculum and education. During the conference, Lucky and Mike participated in sessions on the role of service learning in MPA programs; incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion more effectively into MPA program admissions and retention strategies; methods for MPA programs to partner with state, tribal, and local governments and nonprofits to increase community impact; and lessons learned from the recent efforts by Florida’s state government to restrict the ability of colleges and universities to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Lucky presented work on the impact of Evergreen MPA’s capstone projects as part of a panel on “Redefining Service Learning” and Mike participated in NASPAA’s Accreditation Workshop to learn more about NASPAA’s latest standards for MPA education. Mike also served as a judge for the annual Voinovich Public Innovation Challenge, and shared, “I am excited about how we can use what we learned at  NASPAA to adapt Evergreen’s MPA graduate program to meet today’s best practices in public service learning.”
