Current student Sarah Holdener received a merit scholarship from the Scottish Rite Foundation of Washington. Sarah is the second MPA student to receive this scholarship.

Sarah is entering her second year in the MPA program. As a result of her varied positions in the education sector, Sarah has steadily built connections throughout the greater Olympia area. This recurrent engagement unearthed her passion for her community’s well-being and led her to pursue a degree in public administration. She intends to join the ranks of city government or of a local nonprofit to improve the lives of her fellow South Sounders. Completely new to the world of government and nonprofits, Sarah credits her education at TESC for equipping her with the fundamentals of administering for the public good, as well as the keen understanding of what it takes to be an effective public servant. She feels this knowledge — alongside with her cohort’s friendships — will help her achieve a meaningful career long after she has graduated. When not studying for the next class session, Sarah hangs out with her husband, Jeff, and their two young daughters.
