The facilities intern works in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, woodworking, and forest management. Tasks vary from simple, quick repairs to multi-week construction projects. While much of what we do is functional in its approach, we do not pass up an opportunity to employ an artistic sensibility in our work.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Typical Tasks<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Facilities Interns will have the opportunity to learn many of the following types of work, depending on the needs of the organization throughout the year:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Regular maintenance responsibilities of OAEC infrastructure including potable and agricultural water, septic systems, retreat center needs, energy systems, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Carpentry and furniture building, based on skills and aptitude of intern.<\/li>\n<li>Electrical and plumbing, new work and remodel<\/li>\n<li>Wildlands and tree work.<\/li>\n<li>Roof care and replacement<\/li>\n<li>Painting and staining<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining aesthetic standards of the site to serve retreat center, community, and staff needs.<\/li>\n<li>Chop wood and carry water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Qualifications<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Basic understanding of trade skills (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, tile, etc.).\u00a0 Proficiency in one or more areas is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to easily lift 60 lbs. throughout the day.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to easily take instruction and apply lessons.<\/li>\n<li>Curiosity about how things go together.<\/li>\n<li>A sense of joy in working hard and a job well done.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons
