Supervisor:<\/strong> Development and Education Program Manager\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pay Rate:<\/strong> $21\/hour. Prorated holiday pay and prorated sick leave included\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Position Summary:<\/strong> Delivery of education and engagement programming for Sound Salmon Solutions, including outreach events \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hours: <\/strong>Up to 24 hours per week. Generally Monday-Thursday, between 7AM \u2013 5PM with some weekend and after hours work (such as science nights at schools, etc.). Hours & days are flexible, and may be subject to change depending upon funding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Valid driver\u2019s license and clean driving record<\/p>\n

2. Ability to drive up to 1.5\u00a0 hours one way to a school, up to 3 hours per day (company vehicle\u00a0 or current IRS mileage reimbursement provided)<\/p>\n

3. Submit to and pass a background check for working with children, schools and interns<\/p>\n

4. Ability to lift up to 40lbs<\/p>\n

5. Ability to work outside for long periods in a variety of weather conditions\u00a0<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. 18 years or older\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Valid driver’s license\u00a0<\/p>\n

3. Effective written and oral communication skills<\/p>\n

4. Strong interpersonal skills and an approachable personality<\/p>\n

5. The ability to receive feedback and demonstrate a growth mindset<\/p>\n

6. Ability to navigate difficult classroom situations, including students and teachers<\/p>\n

7. Ability to maintain accurate records with an attention to details<\/p>\n

8. Proficient in the Google Suite as well as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and competent with social media<\/p>\n

9. Strong interest in the recovery of salmon and their habitat<\/p>\n

10. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal oversight as well as part of a team\u00a0<\/p>\n

11. Punctual and prepared for daily tasks<\/p>\n

12. Proficiency in a second language is an asset but not required<\/p>\n

13. Experience caring for fish aquariums is an asset but not required<\/p>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

A.\u00a0 Education\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Deliver salmon and water quality education lessons to Pre K-12 students in the classroom and in the field, including both team-teaching and solo teaching<\/p>\n

2. Assist in lesson planning, preparation, and clean up<\/p>\n

3. Document education lesson data for tracking & reporting purposes<\/p>\n

4. Provide in-office support to the Education Program as needed<\/p>\n

3. Report any incidents, supply shortages, or program needs ASAP to the supervisor(s)<\/p>\n

4. Assist with program development\u00a0<\/p>\n

B.\u00a0 Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Staff engagement tables at outreach events and interact with the public<\/p>\n

2. Assist in preparing for outreach events and managing engagement materials<\/p>\n

3. Assist with reporting on outreach events\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. Assist with occasional volunteer events\u00a0<\/p>\n

C. Miscellaneous<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Support with animal husbandry, including the set up and take down and maintenance of office and classroom salmon tanks<\/p>\n

2. May be required to respond to after-hours tank emergencies<\/p>\n

3. Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor(s)\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. Assist with hatchery events<\/p>\n
