Experience<\/td>\n<td class=\"job-meta-value\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationjobboard.com\/experience\/mid\">2 &#8211; 4 years<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"job-frame__description_content\">\n<p><strong>General Summary:<\/strong> ILM is seeking a full time individual who is passionate about the environment and preserving natural areas in the Greater Chicago area.&nbsp; A Natural Areas Ecologist 2 implements terrestrial based habitat restoration services.&nbsp; These services include controlling invasive plant species (via herbicide application or mechanical removal), controlled burning, native seeding, and native plant installation. This position is a field-based position for individuals that have a background in Environmental Restoration Ecology or related field.&nbsp; The diverse responsibilities and unique experiences this position provides allow for abundant learning opportunities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Control invasive plant species (via herbicide application or mechanical removal).<\/li>\n<li>Participate as a burn crew member during controlled burns.<\/li>\n<li>Restore or install native areas via native seeding and\/or native plant installation.<\/li>\n<li>Assist in writing service reports to summarize daily activities.<\/li>\n<li>Perform all tasks safely and adhere to company safety policies.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct basic maintenance on small engine equipment and hand tools.<\/li>\n<li>Work in conjunction with Lead Ecologists to achieve daily goals.<\/li>\n<li>Safely drive company vehicles to and from job sites, with or without a trailer.<\/li>\n<li>Safely operate specialized equipment (UTVs, Marsh Masters, Skid Steers, Brush Mowers).<\/li>\n<li>Accurately record timesheets and submit them to Manager for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Follow company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain required certifications\/licenses. ILM will provide study materials and testing fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>.Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be at least 21 years of age.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid state drivers license, with clean driving record.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess a college degree in Environmental Science or related field. Bachelor\u2019s or Associates Degree preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Must obtain an Illinois Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operators License within first 30 days of employment. Study materials and testing fees will be provided by ILM.<\/li>\n<li>Has the physical ability to execute invasive plant control (mechanical and chemical), native seeding, planting, and controlled burning.
