Trail Crew Member – Downieville Ca<\/a>
Seasonal Full Time 40HRS\/WK
Contract Length August 1 – October 31, 2026
Pay Scale: $20.00\/hr – $25.00\/hr DOE<\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong>
Under the direction of the Trail Crew Leader a Trail Crew Member performs trail maintenance and trail building tasks. The Trail Crew Member is part of a 4-5 person
crew assigned to various locations based on available grant funding and grant deliverable deadlines.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trail Building and Maintenance<\/strong>
\u25cf Perform trail maintenance on trails including brushing, lopping, tread repair using loppers, chainsaws, McLeods, pulaskis, pick mattocks and shovels.
\u25cf Construct drainage structures and retaining walls using dry stone masonry
\u25cf Construct new trails using sustainable trail techniques
\u25cf Completes trail work in a timely and efficient manner
\u25cf Follows established protocol to ensure that project work quality remains consistent and meets SBTS standards
\u25cf Maintain tools and equipment in accordance with established procedures
\u25cf Adhere to field safety protocols to ensure safety of self and others
\u25cf Follows all employee and safety handbook guidelines<\/p>\n

Volunteer and Event Support<\/strong>
\u25cf Actively engages with volunteers during trail days, epics and events to create a memorable experience
\u25cf Participate in set-up and clean-up for assigned events and trail days
\u25cf Provide event support for assigned SBTS events<\/p>\n

\u25cf Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
\u25cf Ability to converse and exchange accurate information while working in the field
\u25cf Vision ability requirements include the ability to inspect, identify, observe, and assess situational work environments both close up and at a distance.
\u25cf Endurance to conduct fieldwork in remote settings under strenuous conditions
\u25cf Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. over rough terrain and hike for an extended length of time in extreme heat.<\/p>\n

Work Environment<\/strong>
\u25cf Fast paced, physically demanding work environment
\u25cf Occasional job related travel for training, meetings and\/or events.
\u25cf Work with moving mechanical equipment (i.e. tools, chainsaws, mcleods, pulaskis, pick mattocks)
\u25cf Ability to work in an environment with unpredictable weather
\u25cf Ability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time<\/p>\n

Required Skills and Certifications<\/strong>
\u25cf Ability to utilize a motorcycle to traverse rugged terrain in variable conditions
\u25cf 1 Year of Trail Work Experience Preferred
\u25cf Strong mechanical aptitude This skill includes general mechanical reasoning,  visual\/spatial relations abilities, and trail tool knowledge
\u25cf Saw Certificate – A
\u25cf Valid Driver’s License Required
\u25cf First Aid\/CPR certification<\/p>\n
